Super Simple, Cheap Dinner Idea: Crock Pot Brown Sugar Bourbon Chicken

Crock pot cooking is simple on the time and budget. Aggieland Mommy has a super simple dinner idea, Crock Pot Brown Sugar Bourbon Chicken! It looks delicious and I’ve used this seasoning packet myself on a pork shoulder. I can only imagine how awesome it is on chicken breasts. Even better, this recipe is CHEAP!

Thanks Aggieland Mommy Cooks for your frugal, delicious find!

Recipe: Crock Pot Roast Chicken

I love crock pot cooking, especially in the fall. There’s something about the smells wafting through your home that just makes it cozy and inviting. Sure, it’s not fall, but this is a good recipe to clip or pin and read when fall does come around (which will be before you know it). This Crock Pot Roast Chicken by Iowa Girl Eats looks amazing! She gives you pictures, tips and a full recipe.

Thanks Iowa Girl Eats!

Recipe: Homemade Chocolate Ice Crea

Homemade ice cream is just as creamy and delicious as store-bought. But, it also is preservative free and better for you (well as good as ice cream can be for a person anyway). Little House Living has this awesome homemade ice cream recipe that I thought I would share.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks Little House Living for being so frugal and awesome!

Recipe: Sticky Glazed Roast Chicken

This recipe by Frugal Queen had me drooling just by the sight of it. Don’t take my word for it — look for yourself. I’m going to try this out next week. Whole chickens are always a killer deal! You can usually get them for as low as $.99 per pound and once they’re roasted, they have endless use-up opportunities, such as using leftovers for sandwiches, making tacos or freezing some for soup!

Thanks Frugal Queen, you rule.

Preserve Fruits and Veggies Without Canning!

Frugal living isn’t just about getting cheap food at the grocery store — it’s about reducing waste, preserving food and stretching your dollar until it’s so thin you can see through it! The Kitchn has a great blog post about preserving fruits and vegetables WITHOUT canning. These are really clever and some are really quick too. Use these tips for your fresh produce from the garden or cheap finds at the store!

So far my favorite here is the “Recipe: Sun-Dried Tomato and Pesto Rolls“.

But, you can check out more here.

Thanks The Kitchn for sharing your ridiculously frugal ideas — I love it!

Cheap Breakfast Idea: Stuffed French Toast

I’m all for cheap and simple, but it still needs to be delicious. This recipe from Recipes on the Cheap does it all! It’s a stuffed french toast…can you say delicious? While it’s called a Sunday brunch recipe, I’m totally down with doing this any day of the week.

Thanks Recipes on the Cheap for being frugal, but never sacrificing flavor!
